Dereliction Fetish
July 11
It was a nice experience, to delve into dereliction again. After months of construction, sewers, tunnels, trains and cranes, the prospect of a day of derelict places was starting to appeal and as such, the derpmaster general of the group put together a list of musty places to go in The Midlands.

Some nights you just have to travel together to a disused conference centre, play some tunes and drink beers, then sleep in a part built hotel nearby that ran out of funds after completing no more than 4 rooms, but still hadn’t turned off the electricity . Then tip-toe 9 strong around a disused art deco hospital before being chased out by a secca. Participate in the Urbania.

Abbey Mills Pumping Station
2010, Sometime
Cathedral City
I made my way down to Abbey Mills one night with the children, following an excellent meal at some restaurant on Stratford High St, where we drank as much of the finest wine a fistfull of crumpled fivers could buy (one bottle between four). “Korsham Kidz, swigging Vodka on Westwells Road”, was the headline on the rumour-mongering 28DL months later; but we’ve been playing this game since before we’ve been walking. Novotel – June 2010
Having realised that June was a very quiet month for my nocturnal expeditions, I guess the last night of the month was the best one to top up the explore count with. Go West – May 2010
Another 28DL meet was arranged, and my attendance in Cardiff was confirmed when I realised what there was to do on the way down. Following Guildford, Bristol and Manchester’s previous nights of antics in years gone by, I pencilled myself in and got arranging.
Ticking Boxes – April 2010
March/April 2010 has been quite a busy period, what with visiting some drains, getting high in London, doing some interesting new stuff and then some stuff that’s under lock and key until I feel like it (probably next week or so…)
So here’s a few of those little things that just get done along the way. Read the rest of this entry »
Climb Cranes – Feb 2010
We turned up at Heron looking to climb the big tower. They had action on the ground floor and delivery lorries parked up waiting. We gave it an hour, stuffing our faces with McDonalds and then decided to fill our boots with something else. So through a hole in the wall we went, into another building site we’d not seen before.
Millenium Mills – Jan 2010
My first visit to the Mills was in July 2008, following my first visit to Battersea. It was dark, we got on the roof, and that was all there really was to it. This visit was more conclusive however, as we saw the vast majority of the two mill buildings on site.
